"Taking it All " Chapter 15 Heero stared at the sunny ceiling. He couldn't sleep. He had been trying all afternoon. He wasn't sure why, since his mind and body were tired. The atmosphere was calm, which was unusual. Normally, he could hear dogs barking, or children playing. A down side to working midnight's was trying to sleep when everyone else was awake. At that moment, he heard a ringing. Pushing from bed, he headed into the living room and pressed the visual intercom. He wasn't surprised to find a grinning, energetic Duo standing at the building's entrance. Heero bowed his head in aggravation. Duo knew that he didn't have to buzz until after six, in order to enter the building. "Hey He-chan, can I come up? I got dinner, but in your case, it's breakfast." The American called and held up a white paper bag. "You are such an idiot." Heero snapped and released the intercom button. Not wanting to deal with a similar scenario at the door, Heero unlocked it and pulled it open a little. He only had time to sit on the couch as the American entered the apartment, happy-go-lucky as ever. "Well, someone sure is in a mood today." Duo teased and plopped next to his friend. "I haven't slept yet." "Didn't you not sleep for the last couple of days?" "I'm fine Duo." "It just doesn't sound like you." "Look, I've gone without sleep for a few days before, it's not going to kill me." "This has something to do with cat woman, doesn't it?" Heero looked up at the heart shaped face. "Thought so. So, did it not work out?" "I thought I told you that I didn't want you to talk about it." "Yeah, and I haven't said anything to anyone. I mean, you have to vent to someone, especially since Trowa's in Paris." Heero closed his eyes. Why did Duo have to remind him everyday where Trowa was? It's because the American didn't realize what knowing this made Heero feel. "So am I right? Things didn't work out? Is that why you've been Mr. Grump'n'depressed?" "They're still being worked." "I'll tell you one thing, that chick's crazy if she passes you up." "You're exaggerating." "Are you kidding? On a scale of one to ten, you're a twenty. . .well, nineteen because of that low self esteem. Believe me, if you weren't straight I'd fucked the hell out of you, and I'm sure Trowa would agree too." Heero turned from Duo's words, however, Duo took it as Heero believing differently. "Not only do you have a hard on worthy body, but you're just a big old teddy bear in wolf's clothing." Duo looked up at his friend, noting the distant look. "I tell you one thing. If that bitch ends up hurting you, she'll have me to deal with." "I don't think you have to worry about that." "Why do you say that?" Before Heero could answer, his cell phone started ringing. The Japanese man headed for his bedroom, where his phone was hooked to its charger. Curious, Duo slid off the couch and stood next to the doorway, wondering if it was Heero's mistress. "Did I wake you?" Trowa's voice seeped through the speakers, and Heero got the impression that he had been crying. "No. I was already awake." "I'm sorry." "For what?" "I don't want to bother you." "Baby, you're never bothering me. Are you okay?" "I-I just wanted to hear your voice." "What happened?" Heero slumped onto the bed as he was intended on Trowa. He had been crying. Whatever Quatre did to him was bad enough to cause that. Trowa grew silent. Just holding the phone, knowing that Heero was on the other line was enough to comfort him. Trowa pushed his hair aside and buried his eyes in his hand, wanting to cease his tears. "I don't want this anymore." His voice was choked with tears, and Heero felt like someone was ripping his heart out. "Then leave." "I can't." "Why? Fuck hurting him. Listen to yourself. Listen to what he's doing to you." "He didn't cause this. . .I did." "Is that the truth, or are you just trying to make excuses? Baby, you don't owe him anything. You've done nothing wrong." "I cheated on him." "Because you're unhappy. You said yourself that you don't want this anymore, so leave. You don't have to stay there. If you need money, I'll send it to you." Trowa grew silent. So now was the time of choosing? Either he stays with Quatre and continue his relationship, or he chooses Heero and throw all that away. Heero understood the silence. Trowa was waiting for him to tell him what to do. Though he wanted to, Heero refrained. He wanted Trowa to choose him, willingly. "Baby it's your decision." Heero closed his eyes and gripped the edge of the bed with his free hand. He knew what he wanted to hear. He wanted Trowa more than he's ever wanted anything before. "Baby, I didn't mean to put you on the spot, you don't have to decide right this second. If you need the remaining time, it's fine. I understa-" "I want you." Trowa spoke softly. Heero's eyes popped open in surprise as his heart stopped for a brief moment. Did he hear right? "I want to be with you." All at once, it felt as if a large weight had been lifted. Despite his tears, Trowa felt happy inside. He hadn't felt it in so long, that he didn't even realize what it was that he was feeling at first. "Are you sure?" "Yes, but you don't have to send me money. I'll fly back with him. It'll give me time to level with Quatre." "Will you be all right?" "I'll be fine. I should probably let you go. I'll see you when we get back." "Do you want me to pick you up?" "Please?" "Okay." Heero hung up and pressed the 'end' button. He couldn't help but smile as he laid back on his bed and stared at the ceiling. Four days? They were going to drag, but it would be worth it, knowing that Trowa was coming home to him instead of Quatre. "I'm guessing that was good news." Duo stated, appearing on Heero's threshold. The Japanese man chuckled at Duo's words. "You have no ideal." "And look at Mr. Strong man, got a pet name for the love of his life." Laughing, Heero grabbed a pillow and lobbed it toward Duo. "Duo, not even you or your teasing could put me in a bad mood today." "Holy shit! He's smiling AND laughing? This chick
must be some good pussy." Heero laughed to himself, imaging the
look on Duo's face when he finds out that it was Trowa. Chapter
