Welcome Home

Part 6

“A little work?” Trowa questioned as he stood next to Heero and rested his arm on the stronger boy’s shoulder. “Looks more like you need a new place.” Duo glared at the taller boy, for a moment before heading toward the door. He wasn’t sure why the remark offended him as much as it did.

“Well, the inside is a lot better than the outside. With all of us, we could get it done in three weeks. . .or at least most of it. It’ll turn out great.” As he spoke, the door collapsed again, causing snickers to emerge from Trowa.

“Yeah. . .just great.” The Latin stated and followed Heero into the mansion.

“How many rooms are there again?” Quatre asked as the five boys stepped into the main room. The blonde’s eyes traced the chamber thoroughly.

“The lawyer said that there was 50 rooms. . .but Wu Fei and I counted 52.”

“You expect the five of us to clean and fix up a 52 rooms, the outside of the house and all the yard care in three weeks?” Trowa questioned as he arched his eye brows.

“Well, I’m mainly concerned about the outside and just the main rooms. I could always block off the rest and make it a graduate project. After you guys leave, I’m still going to work on it on my own.” Trowa only shook his head in pity. The violet eyes narrowed at him. “If you didn’t want to help, then you shouldn’t have come.” He barked at Trowa.

“Nobody said that I wasn’t going to help.” No one seemed to notice that the Arab was still staring at the walls and ceiling of the room.

“Maybe we should split up and pick out rooms to stay in.” Heero suggested, in an attempt to avoid another verbal fight between his boyfriend and best friend.

“What?” Quatre snapped from his search. “Stay here?”

“Yuy’s got a point.” Wu Fei added. “It’ll probably be better if we just stayed here instead of a motel in town.”

“But the lights and water aren’t on. Why would we stay here?” Quatre asked and looked from one friend to another in hopes of finding someone to agree with him.

“Relax Q. There’s a pond on the property. Not to mention that Wu-wu and I got some candles yesterday. . .and there’s practically a fire place in every room.” He finished and pointed behind the blonde to bring attention to the large fire place. “We have all the basic necessities.”

“Besides, who wants to waste time driving back and forth every day when we could just stay here?” Wu Fei questioned.

“It’ll give us more time to work on this dump.” Trowa added; gaining another glare from the homeowner. Wu Fei led the way up stairs to the sleeping quarters. Duo was behind him; with Quatre following while trying to talk sense into going to stay at a motel. Trowa slung his bag over his shoulder and prepared to join the back of the trio, but a strong hand held his firmly.

He looked back at Heero and the question plaguing his mind was answered. The Japanese man wanted the others to pick a room first. Then they would claim one as far from them as possible. The house was old and probably could carry sounds well . . .there was no sense in waking everyone up every night for the next three weeks.

*********

Duo crashed onto his bed and buried his face into his pillow. It was late night. The only source of light was the candle sitting in the wall-mounted candleholder next to the bed. Not caring about anything other than sleep right now, the American toed off his shoes and curled up on the large mattress. After picking out each of their rooms, the rest of the afternoon was spent cleaning the four separate rooms chosen; the kitchen; dinning and sitting rooms. Duo hadn’t cleaned so much in one day since the first time he got in a fight at school and Sister Helen made him clean the entire church. . .confessional and all.

His hands still reeked of bleach and he shoved them under his pillow in an attempt to rid himself of the sickening aroma. All at once, he heard a faint squeaking sound. Without having to really think about it, he knew who the cause of the noise was. Using a second pillow, he covered his head and wished for the sound to go away. . .somehow he had the feeling that it wouldn’t happen for a while. A second later, it stopped. Confused, Duo removed the pillow and sat up straight. The house was completely silent. Not one to complain at this particular time, he laid back down and tried to fall asleep.

However, a knock at the door changed that attempt. He sat up in bed again as the large wooden door slowly creaked open to reveal Quatre. Despite the poor lighting quality, he could clearly see a look of fear on the pale features. His first thought was that something was wrong. . .or happened.

“Quatre?”

“Could I stay the night with you?” The Arab asked softly and focused his blue eyes on his friend. Duo chuckled to himself and nodded. The blonde didn’t waste any time as he quickly closed the door and walked over to the bed.

“Thanks Duo.”

“Scared?” Duo asked in a soothing tone rather than one of tease.

“I don’t think I like this place Duo.” Quatre answered and climbed under the blankets with his friend. Duo laid down for a third time. This time, it was on his side so that he could face Quatre.

“Why not?”

“I don’t know. There’s something not right about it. It’s creepy. Doesn’t it bother you?”

“No. Actually, for the first time, I feel comfortable. . .kinda like I’m finally home.”

“Considering your dark side. . .it doesn’t surprise me.” The blonde giggled and Duo smiled. “I guess I’m the only one being bugged by this place.”

“Well, it takes some people longer to get use to a new house. I use to be like that when I was bounced from one foster home to another. . .but I’ve gotten use to it. Wu Fei would never admit to being scared. . .if he was. Trowa and Heero are going to be too exhausted to think of being scared; between working and screwing each others’ brains out.” Duo laughed and laid on his back. “I’m surprised that they quit so early.”

“What are you talking about?” Quatre wondered. “They’re still going at it.”

“Huh?” Duo sat up and listened closely.

“That’s odd. You can’t hear them in here. . .but I did in the hallway before I came in.” Violet met sapphire for a brief moment. Curiosity was in both set of eyes. They hopped out of the bed and headed toward the hallway. Upon stepping into the hall, they both heard the lovers clearly.

“Whoa. . .maybe the room’s sound proof or something.”

“Just yours?” Quatre looked back at the room then at Duo.

“Maybe it was the master bedroom.” Duo shrugged. “Did you hear it in your room before coming to me.”

“Yeah.” Duo looked down the hall toward Wu Fei’s room. “Do you think Wu Fei can hear them?” Quatre gave voice to both of their question.

“Only one way to find out.” They headed toward the closed door; and Duo knocked lightly. “Hey Wu-wu, you awake?” The door swung open to reveal the annoyed Chinese boy.

“Who wouldn’t be with those two?”

“Well, you can’t hear them in my room.” Wu Fei appeared skeptical. Duo’s room was closer to the room that Trowa and Heero had picked. How was it that Wu Fei could hear them plainly, but Duo couldn’t. “Seriously. Come on if you don’t believe me.” With that, the trio walked down the hall and into Duo’s room. Once again, with the door closed, silence filled the chamber.

“That’s strange.” Wu Fei commented.

“Well, you’re more than welcomed to stay in here the night Wu-wu.” Duo offered and delivered a knowing smile.

“Good night Maxwell.” Wu Fei snapped and left the room, slamming the door behind him.

“One day, I’m going to get through to him.” The braided boy assured as he stared at the closed door.

“Some how, I get the impression that he doesn’t want to be gotten to.” Quatre stated and laid back on the bed.

“Oh, he does Q. Believe me, he does.”

“Duo, you’ve been chasing him for two years now, and he’s still resisting. Doesn’t that tell you something?”

Duo shrugged and walked back toward the bed.

“The best things in life aren’t easy to accomplish. For instance, if we Gundam pilots gave up after being rejected, hated, dismissed, and beaten time and time again, the Earth and Colonies would still be at war.”

“But why him?” Duo stared at his companion as he sat down on the bed. It was the first time Quatre had ever question his attraction to the Preventer. “I mean, he just acts like he doesn’t like you, any more than friends that is.”

“He likes me Quatre.”

“How can you say that? He insults you; looks down at you; ignores you; and at times yells and swears at you. That doesn’t sound like he likes you. He doesn’t even call you by your first name. The only person I ever heard him call by their first name was Sally.”

“He calls me by my last name out of respect. As far as the yelling, insults, and ignoring. . .it’s his self defense. He doesn’t strike me as someone that willingly opens up to just anyone. He told me a few days ago that his dad was strict on him. Strict can also be a nice word for abusive. . .so I’m figuring that he could have a lot of issues with trust and getting close to someone because of it.”

“Maybe it’s just you. I mean Sally is pretty close to him.”

“Sally is more like a mother to him; not a girlfriend.”

“How can you be so sure. Wu Fei never talks about his personal affairs.”

“True, but if he was with Sally, she would have come to the funeral with him. . .but she didn’t. I just have to find some way to get through his wall.”

“Oh God Heero!” Trowa screamed over the knocking of the bed and squeaking of the mattress. He clutched his lover’s shoulder tightly and pushed himself against the enlarged erection inside him. He looked up into Heero’s face, but his attention was drawn to the scene behind the Japanese boy. There was a mirror on the ceiling, right over the bed. It was strange that he never noticed it before; and he wondered if Heero had. For a moment, he watched his boyfriend making love to him, but suddenly the image changed. . .or more appropriately, his reflection changed.

In the dim light from the candle, his green eyes became menacing. They seemed to be glaring at the real lovers below. A chill ran down Trowa’s spine as the threatening green eyes became darker; nearly psychotic. His reflection dug its finger nails into the reflection of Heero’s back. Slowly, they ripped down the flesh, leaving behind eight thin trails of blood. Trowa’s eyes widen at the scene above him. Though he knew that it wasn’t possible, he lightly ran his hands along Heero’s back to find that it was fine.

“Trowa?” He tore his eyes from the reflection to look up at Heero. “Are you okay?” He sounded concerned.

“Yeah. Keep going.” Trowa whispered. Heero hesitated a moment before complying. The Latin closed his eyes and attempted to focus on his partner. . .but even with his eyes closed, he could still see the image plainly. He could feel that those diabolic eyes were watching them. He tried to push it away by telling himself that his mind was playing tricks. It had to be. . .reflections don’t act on their own. The lighting was poor and he had been staring at the scene for a period of time.

As he opened his eyes to reassure himself, he was shocked to find that the reflection of Heero’s back had been mauled. The evil reflection narrowed its green eyes at its counter part. Not wanting to face the scene any longer, Trowa fully kissed Heero’s lips. He quickly switched positions with the stronger boy and continued to kiss him. All the while, he could feel his reflection watching him. Though he couldn’t see it now, he had a feeling that it was still watching them.

Heero moaned softly into his mouth, as he felt the strong hand grip his own manhood and begin pumping him. Heero’s body tensed as he prepared to release. He thrust himself into his boyfriend. The kiss was broken as Heero moaned his lover’s name. He released Trowa and gripped either of his hips. He pushed the body against his nearly satisfied sex to add to the force already being applied. Throwing his head back against the pillows, his moan grew in volume as he felt his release explode into his lover. He relaxed into the sheets, heavily breathing and enjoying the fading sensations.

Not, for a second, forgetting about Trowa’s release, he laid his lover on the bed and wasted no time in taking him into his mouth. Trowa kept his eyes closed as he tried to ignore the image above him. He had finally managed to push it from his mind until Heero laid him on his back. Not able to resist, he opened his eyes to find the green eyes still glaring at him; like he knew that they had been the entire time. For the first time ever, a glare scared him. Looking into the ominous eyes was almost like staring into a portal of his greatest fears. He turned from them and tried again to block them out. . .all the while, wondering what was going on with the mirror.

Heero couldn’t deny the fact that something wasn’t right. Trowa’s breathing changed from one of pleasure to discomfort. As he glanced up at his boyfriend from the corner of his eye, he was surprised to see the look of fear. He stopped suddenly and stared at the tighten features. It didn’t even seem that Trowa noticed his cease of actions. This only alarmed him further. Usually the Latin was so sensible during the time of their making love. This time he had been distant.

“Trowa?” The green eyes remained closed a moment before opening and turning to him. Heero moved closer for a deeper probing of the emeralds. “What’s going on?” Trowa hesitated a moment and looked pass Heero. Noting the quick attention alteration, he sat back on his knees and looked at the ceiling. All he saw was a mirror. He knew he hadn’t noticed it before. . .but why was Trowa acting so strangely over a mirror. There was nothing different from this mirror than any other mirror he had seen. He turned his attention back to Trowa to find confusion and turmoil.

As Trowa stared at his own reflection, he felt foolish for letting his mind’s games get to him. He wasn’t sure what to tell Heero. As much trust that they shared, somehow he didn’t think that his partner would believe what he thought he had seen.

“I’m sorry.” He stated softly.

“What happened?”

“I don’t know. . .I guess my eyes were just playing tricks.”

“Well. . .what do you think you saw?”

“It was nothing.” He assured and raised to kiss Heero’s lips. When they parted, the concern was still lingering. “Don’t you have a job to finish?” Trowa teased and pushed Heero toward his still unsatisfied manhood. As Heero set back to work, Trowa remained propped on his elbows to watch. Now that he was assured that there was nothing wrong with the mirror, he refused to give it a second look. However, one thing was for sure. Before this time tomorrow, he was going to remove it so that nothing like this would happen again.
