The Tie That Bonds Chapter 20 Though she hadn't seen it coming, Mia had felt an object hurling toward her. It was proven when a paper football landed in the binding of her text book. She instantly recognized the handwriting on the triangle as Sam's. Thinking about last night, she picked up the paper and began to unfold it. Dear Mia, A smile plagued Mia's lips as she read the note. When she finished, she looked up at her boyfriend who was sitting near the front of the class. She could see the flicker of hope in his coal eyes as well as a hint of concern and worry. Smiling warmly she nodded. Sam, in turn, clinched his hands into tight fists and shook them victoriously. That settled, she turned her attention back to her history teacher. "And that will wrap up this part in history." Miss. Belgium announced and closed her book. "Tomorrow, and Thursday, we will have a review over what we just covered. Friday will be your test. . .and on Monday, we'll begin the next chapter of the book, by discussing the assassination of Heero Yuy and the war that followed." Mia's eyes widen in surprise as she raised her hand quickly. "Yes Mia?" "I'm sorry Miss. Belgium, I don't think I heard you right. . .who's assassination are we going to cover on Monday?" "Heero Yuy's." Mia's jaw slightly dropped. "Is something wrong?" "No. I just wanted to make sure I heard you correctly." At that second the bell rang, releasing the students from their learning prison. "Whoa. That's kinda weird." Jessica stated as she and Mia stood in unison. "Who are you telling?" The two girls picked up their bags and headed for the door. "It already sounds strange, and we haven't even started the lesson yet." "Do you think Heero might be related to the other Heero?" Mia shrugged. "It's possible." "That would be so cool." Jessica squealed. "Heero related to someone famous." Sam was waiting outside the door. Just as Mia entered the hall, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her to the side. "So I'm forgiven?" "Yeah. I guess I could. . .but just this once." With that, their lips met briefly. "Do you guys have plans for tonight?" Jessica asked, breaking the intimate gesture. Mia looked up at the taller boy. "Do we?" "Not unless you want to make some." "I say we should have a study group at your house." Jessica suggested and pointed at Mia. The colbat eye girl laughed. "Jess, we're not studying Heero Yuy until next week. . .and even so, it's not the same Heero." "Well, maybe if I study a living Heero Yuy, I can get extra credit." "Call me crazy. . ." Sam started and the trio walked side by side down the hall. "But something tells me that Heero isn't just going to stand there and say 'okay, you can study me.' It just doesn't seem like something he would do." "Well, that's the fun of it. Studying him in his natural habitat without him knowing." Jessica cooed as she thought about the muscular Japanese man. "Until he finds out you're there and begins to rampage." Sam chuckled and Mia shook her head in helplessness. "But he's so sexy when he's mad. It's well worth it." "Can we talk about something else Jess. Heero's been a like a father to me my whole life." "I know. . .you have all the luck. If I were you, and Heero was no way related to me, I'd give Trowa a run for his money." "I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear that." "Why do all the cute ones have to be gay? It's not fair." "How would you like it if I talked about your father like that?" Mia asked, wanting to get away from her friend's swooning. "There's nothing attractive about my dad. He's nearly bald, wears bifocals, and has a beer belly bigger than my mom's tits." Sam couldn't help but laugh at the statement, but Mia dreaded the second part of it. "Now Heero. . ." "I know what Heero looks like. Okay. I've been looking at him for fifteen years Jess. You don't have to point it out again." The brunette glared at her friend, and silence reigned.
"Yummy, Sloppy Joes." She reached for the cookie jar sitting next to her. A pout pulled her lips as she noticed that the jar was empty. "I hope you realized that you just sat in flour." Trowa stated without looking up from his task. "Oh man." She jumped down and started wiping the powder from her black jeans. "This sucks." "Maybe next time you'll look before you sit." "What happened to all the cookies?" She asked as she continued to knock the particles from her clothes. "Didn't you make a whole batch last night?" "Yeah, but Heero got the munchies." "The whole batch?" Her eyes widen in surprise. Though Heero often snacked between meals, it was usually health food; such as carrot sticks or celery. It wasn't like him to eat a whole batch of cookies in one night. . .but Trowa, on the other hand. . . "Oh, I see. You're just blaming Heero. You little cookie thief." "No. Truthfully, Heero ate most of them. I'll admit I had a few, but he devoured the rest." "Whoa." Mia grabbed the wash rag from the sink and began to clean off the flour. "Is he okay?" "Yeah. Every now and then he gets strange cravings." "Don't you mean normal cravings?" She asked and dried off the counter. "I mean, geez, he's the only guy I know that would get up at four in the morning with a craving for broccoli." She stuck her tongue out at the thought and sat back on the counter. "Trowa are you in love with Heero?" "Yeah." "No. I mean, truly, deeply, madly, insanely in love with him that you rather die in the most painful disgusting way if you can't be with him?" "You're over dramatizing again." "Oh. Well, what I'm getting at is that, I believe, that there's two kinds of love. There's loving someone, then there's being in love with someone." "I agree." "So are you in love or do you love Heero?" "I'm in love with him." "When did you know that?" ". . .hn?. . ." "I mean. . .when you first saw him did you think 'my God, he's the most sexy, neurotic man of my dreams and the sole reason to my every erection thereafter'. . .or was it something that you noticed within time?" Trowa stared at the hamburger meat for a moment as he considered the best way to answer her. "Heero and I met in an extremely confusing time in our lives. There was just so much going on with the both of us that neither of us knew what we were feeling half the time. So to answer if it was love at first sight, or if we started out as friends, and then matured. . . .I guess I'm going to have to say that it matured." "What did you feel when you first saw him." Astound. . .amazed. . .intrigued. . .admirable. . .sorrowful. . .those were just a few of the emotions that came to his mind at the question. Considering the fact that the first time he saw Heero was an attempt to blow himself up. . .but that was the last thing he wanted to go into right now. "I felt comfortable around him. . .and that I could trust him. I sensed some sort of bond, but I didn't know what it was at the time." "Did you date anyone else before Heero?" "Why are you suddenly asking all these questions?" "I'm just curious." She smiled mischievously, causing a worried expression to befall Trowa. "For as far back as I can remember, you and Heero have had like this perfect relationship. There's times that I watch you hold each other, or kiss, and sometimes accidentally walk in on you. . .and what I see between the two of you. . .that's what I want. I want someone who's perfect for me the way you and Heero are perfect for each other. I mean, I can see the two of you still together, 20, 30 years from now. It's so hard to find love like that. I have no friends who are from a full home. Either they have step family; or are living with a divorcee parent; or relative. I want to know what the two of you did to find each other. I know that it won't happen for me the same way. . .but it'll give me an ideal." Trowa looked up into the hopeful colbat eyes. "I know it might sound a little corny; but it comes when you least expect it. When I first saw Heero; I never would have guessed that I could ever be with him the way I am now." "Why?" "I always thought he was out of my league. I've seen a lot of people hit on him. . .and he could have had any of them. . .but he chose me, and I still sometimes ask him why." "Does he ever answer you?" "He tells me that I taught him to love."
