Author's note: This is probably the first fic that I started posting before finsihing it. . .so it may take a little longer to get everything up than usual. . .but I hope you enjoy it, and hopefully your requests will push me to finish it. . .since I haven't finished one in a loooooooooong time. "Taking it All "

Chapter 20

"I should be home in about half an hour." Quatre stated as he approached the elevator and hit the down button.

"Well, I guess that's a good thing. Dinner's not ready yet."

"You're cooking dinner?"

"Well, I got bored sitting around the house. There really wasn't anything else to do."

"And here I was worried that you'd sneak over to Heero's apartment to talk to him." This was followed by a chuckle on Quatre's side. Trowa bit his bottom lip, wondering if he should tell Quatre that he had already spoken with Heero.

"Actually, kitten. . .I sort of went yesterday to talk to Heero."

"Yester-Trowa, have you lost your mind? He hit you yesterday."

"I know kitten, but I couldn't. . .I'm sorry." Quatre sighed and leaned against the wall next to elevator door. He couldn't keep them apart, even with a little help.

"I guess I can understand. So what happened?"

"It was a little weird, and he was drunk, so-"

"He was drunk? Trowa, did he-"

"No. Nothing happened kitten. Heero would never hurt me like that."

"That's what Margaux said."

"This was completely different. All in all, I didn't learn anything from yesterday, so I figured that I would go visit him before he goes to work."

"What if he's drunk again?"

"He was hurting yesterday."

"So how will today be any different?"

"Kitten, please don't talk about him like that. Heero's a good man. He could have done something to me yesterday, but he didn't. He only kissed me."

"You let him kiss you?"

"I was caught off guard. . .that's all."

"Did you like it?"

"No. I wanted to push him away, but I didn't want to trigger anything." At that time, the elevator doors opened and Quatre stepped inside, still intent on Trowa's words.

"You're sure nothing else happened?" Quatre wondered as the doors closed and he realized that there was a worker inside the elevator. The man was wearing a blue jump suit, and matching hat. He had the control panel detached from the wall, and was presently working on it. "Look, I'm in the elevator, I'll talk to you later." Quatre waited for Trowa's goodbye before looking up at the man. "Should I have gotten on?" He questioned softly, and the man turned around. Fear gripped Quatre's heart at seeing the deep blue eyes.

"What's the matter Quatre? Don't you trust me?" Heero questioned, and Quatre swallowed hard.

"What-what are you doing here?" Quatre attempted to hide his nervousness, but as usual, Heero seen right through it.

"Looking for some answers, that I think only you can provide."

"What do you mean?" Heero turned back to the control panel and began rising the elevator.

"Your innocent bullshit may blow over with Trowa, but I'm not him. You know exactly what I mean. . .and you're going to tell me what you did to him."

"Did what to who?" Quatre's eyes lifted toward the numbers on the elevator. He had boarded on the fifteenth floor, the elevator was now at the twentieth.

"We've known each other far too long for bullshit. You can level with me. . .or I can level both of us on the floor of this shaft." Quatre's eyes widen. Was Heero serious? Somehow, he knew the answer was yes, as he glanced up to find that they were approaching floor thirty.

"Heero-"

"How can you do that to him? You're suppose to love him, yet you violated his mind; even after what happened to him the last time he stuck his neck out for you."

"He threw himself into that blast to protect you." Heero looked over his shoulder at the blonde, a sort of victory in his eyes; and Quatre wished he hadn't said as much.

"You knew he was going to leave you, and that's why you somehow robbed him of his memories with me. How'd you do it? Brainwash? Hypnosis? Some kind of chip? How can you take away parts of his memory?"

"He is happy with me."

"Only because you unnaturally made him."

"Just leave him alone Heero. You can't possibly give him what he needs."

"And I guess you can, by altering him." Quatre looked up at the floor again. There were seventy-two floors to the building, and somehow he knew that Heero wasn't going to spare any expense.

"Heero, you'll kill us both."

"Maybe. . .or maybe it'll kill only you." Quatre's blue eyes turned to him. There it was again; the same cold blue eyes of the boy that self destructed thirteen years ago. "Let's face it, I'm not your normal man. I've already did all the calculations, and I have a 85% chance of survival. . .15% chance of landing in a comma, but I'm sure Trowa will nurse me back to health again. . .Wanna guess your percentage? There's only two ways out of this elevator Quatre. Either tell me everything, or attempt escaping through the emergency shaft while free falling over seventy flights." Quatre looked toward the ceiling of the elevator. Even before looking, he already guessed that the shaft was straight above Heero. Attempting to reach it would mean physical fighting.

"Heero, when was your last cat scan?"

"Three weeks ago. Doctors said I'm fine; though I think you should make an appointment for one, if, you make a wise decision today."

"You're insane." Tears appeared in Quatre's eyes. Heero narrowed his eyes at Quatre, anger seeping desperately from the small slits. The elevator stopped abruptly, and a quick glance proved that they were at the top.

"Tell me."

"There's nothing to tell. Trowa loves me, that's why he's accepted my proposal."

"Look. . .I'm going to ask you something. . .and you better be one hundred percent honest when answering, for it could save your life." Quatre swallowed hard as Heero turned from his gaze. He didn't want the blonde to see how close he was to crying. He used the bill of his hat to cover this. "Is this my fault? Is it because Trowa wanted me that you hurt him to this extent? Had it been any other man, would you have still done this to him?" Quatre stared at the man before him. If he didn't know any better, he would have believed that someone else was standing before him. Heero was sincere in his words just now; though they were thick with guilt and self blame. He could feel it. . .Heero's emotions. For the first time, since they met, he could feel Heero's pain. Before, it had been only physical, now the emotional pain was worse.

He couldn't find his voice to answer Heero's question. He knew the truth, but couldn't bring himself to say as much. Angered from the lack of answer, Heero ripped a cord from the panel. Quatre's eyes widen as the elevator began descending at an alarming rate.

"Heero!?!"

"I just wanted you to be honest with me Quatre. All you had to do was come clean. Trowa means more to me than anything in this life-" His glassy blue eyes raised to view Quatre again. "Even before our affair, I treasured him more than anyone knew. You took that. Whatever it is that you created, that's not Trowa." Quatre looked up at the numbers. They were already in the low fifties.

"Heero, stop the elevator."

"Are you afraid of dying Quatre?" Fearful aquamarine turned to unstable cobalt. Heero leaned against the wall of the elevator and slid to a sitting position; his eyes lowered to the carpet of the elevator.

"You're not even trying to escape? Your 85%-"

"Means nothing if I can't return Trowa to what he was."

"But-"

"If we both die, then he'll be free from us. Can you die knowing you own Trowa's complete heart? I know I can." Quatre stared at him in disbelief. Was this how his life was going to end? By the hands of a deranged ex Gundam pilot that was obsessed with his boyfriend? They were in the thirties.

"Heero, stopped the elevator." No movements were made to accomplish as much. Quatre headed for the shaft, but Heero snatched his ankle in a vice grip, and shook his head. Tears welled Quatre's eyes as he feared never seeing Trowa again. "I'll make you a deal. Our wedding day isn't for another two months." Heero looked up at Quatre's sudden words. Twenties. "If you honestly believe Trowa isn't happy with me, then make him fall in love with you. If you do, then I'll call off the wedding, and step back." Heero scoffed and returned his gaze to the ground.

"A lot of good that will do. After all, you can magically make him forget things that happen."

"Everything from here on in, is final." Heero looked up again. Something in Quatre screamed that it was the truth. Fifteenth floor. "You have my word that whatever happens after today, stays."

"You'll find ways to keep him from me."

"No. I promise."

"And you'll mention nothing of this little chat to anyone?"

"I swear it." Tenth floor.

"If you break this word, I will kill you." Quatre nodded. Fifth floor. Heero remained sitting on the floor, but released Quatre's ankle.

"Stop the elevator." Quatre pleaded, and if on cue, it lurched to a halt, causing the Arab to fall against the wall, and then his knees. His eyes flashed toward Heero, and knew the smug expression. The Japanese man had rigged the entire thing. It was never meant to crash against the first floor, but come to a screeching halt on the third.

"I will keep you to your word Quatre Winner." Heero stated and pushed to his feet. Quatre relaxed against the wall, feeling relieved and enraged. He watched as Heero did something more to the control panel and the doors slid open. Sighing in aggravation, Quatre stood up shakily and prepared to follow Heero to a safer area. Just as he approached, the doors slid close.

"HEERO!!!!" Heero ignored Quatre's voice. The elevator wouldn't fall any further. It served its purpose. As for Quatre's freedom, let the real workers handle getting him out of there. Glancing down at his wrist watch, he figured the rescue would be complete by nine that evening.
