"Taking it All " Chapter 10 Jade's smile faded as she noticed Quatre from across the room. The Arab was still alone, and another glass of wine was within his hold. Her heart reached out to Quatre, and she wished that there was something she could do to ease his pain, but as long as he held onto Trowa as he had been, then there was nothing she could do. Sighing, she politely disentangled herself from the couple she was talking with and approached Quatre. "Are you all right?" She questioned in concern. Quatre looked up from his glass, his blue eyes filled with sorrow. "I'm fine Jade." "Where's Trowa?" Quatre swallowed hard his drink before answering. "He wasn't feeling well, so he stayed home." Jade studied her brother closely, knowing that he was lying. For as long as she's known him, she knew that he couldn't lie well. "Where is he really? With Heero?" Quatre closed his eyes and forced his tears at bay. Just hearing his rival's name made him want to cry. "Oh Quatre, I'm so sorry." She whispered and pulled him into an embrace. Quatre allowed her to hold him for a moment. Sorry? Sorry wasn't going to give him the love of his life back. "Quatre just leave him, you deserve better than this." Angered, Quatre pulled from his sister's hug. "Jade, stop telling me what to do with my life. You're nearly as bad as father." "Kitten." Quatre's eyes widen and he spun around to find Trowa standing behind him, dressed in the tux that he had picked out earlier that week. Guilt consumed emeralds. Quatre wanted to believe that it was from being late, but somehow knew that it was due to leaving Heero tonight. "I'm sorry kitten. . .I lost track of time." He soothed and wrapped his arms around the Arab. "Forgive me." He whispered and kissed the top of his head. Quatre melted, as did the anger and humiliation that he had been feeling until this point. Trowa showed up after all, rather than staying with Heero. . .that was enough, for now. Trowa kept his gaze from Jade. He already knew that the private detective was the most leery of his and Quatre's relationship. Now that he thought about it, she probably convinced Quatre to hire her to spy on Trowa and Heero's actions. "Thank you for coming." Quatre stated as he pulled from Trowa's hold. His blue eyes sparkled with tears and Trowa's guilt worsen. He was tearing his boyfriend apart; in more ways than one. Jade's angered glare was enough proof of that. Trowa tenderly brushed Quatre's cheek before kissing the tip of his nose. If it would have been six months ago, he would have been able to honestly confess that there wasn't a single place that he wanted to be more than by Quatre's side. . .now, such words were absent. "Maybe you should go take care of your eyes." Trowa suggested. Quatre seemed confused at first, then realized that he had been softly crying. Nodding, he wiped his tears. After asking Trowa to stay where he was, he disappeared from the room. Trowa watched after his boyfriend. This had to end. It was bad enough that he had caused Quatre to cry, but now, Heero too. He sensed movement to his left. It was Jade. He didn't really need to look to know that Quatre's older sister was approaching him. She stopped a few feet to his left, and waited for him to acknowledge her. "Who the hell do you think you are; putting him through this?" Jade's eyes narrowed to slits. Trowa didn't respond. He deserved this. "Quatre loves you with all his heart, and look what you're doing to him." Her words toned so that only Trowa could hear. "Is this what you wanted Trowa? Do you get off watching him cry?" Trowa closed his eyes and bowed his head. What use was there in trying to defend? Jade was the most stubborn in Quatre's family. Furthermore, he wasn't even sure what to say in his own defense. . .he didn't like seeing Quatre in pain, yet he was too selfish to give up Heero. "How long are you planning to do this to him? Until he wastes away to nothing? After everything he's done for you. . .do you even have anything to say for yourself?" There was no response. Feeling all her rage, she did the only thing that felt right at the time, she planted her left fist into Trowa's jaw; causing everyone to turn toward them. Quatre raised to look at his reflection. It was no use. There was no way for him to hide the tears he had been shedding. Time was the only thing that would be able to do that. He turned off the water and reached for the towel that was handed to him by the bathroom attendant. "Are you well Mr. Winner?" Quatre nodded and turned to face the older man. His hazel eyes were filled with mock concern. He could easily tell the man could think of a million other places to be right now. It would even be safe to say that this man hated his job, but continued to pay bills with it. "Thank you for your concern. . .I am fine." He sounded more assured than he actually felt. Gathering himself, he left the rest room, and returned to Trowa. He found his lover right where he had left him, but immediately felt that something was wrong. Going on instinct, he looked around the room. Jade was gone. Somehow, he knew that she must of said something to him. "Trowa, where did Jade-" His sentence was cut short as Trowa looked up and Quatre could see the red mark of Jade's hit. "What happened?" Quatre was instantly at his side, examining the wound. ~ * ~ Chapter
