Something to Talk About

Part 12

Aya closed his eyes and pulled the keys from the ignition. He wasn't sure if it was because of the whether, or the fact that school had let out from the storm and he was stuck dealing with the swooning teenagers a lot longer than he wanted to, maybe it was that he had been sick all morning; whatever the reason, he wasn't in the best of moods. Now that he thought about it. . .his bad mood started when Sakura had told him what she had seen in the park yesterday. When he first heard her say that Trowa and Heero were making out, he thought about the possibility that she could have been mistaken. He tried his best to not worry about it until he would have a chance to talk to Heero; but the more he thought about it during the course of the day, the more convinced he became that it might be true.

As he climbed from his car, closed the door, and headed toward Heero's apartment building, he was looking forward to just a quiet evening with the two of them. He knew for a fact that Ken and Trowa would be gone to a motorcycle show, so Trowa was definitely out of the way tonight. He would be able to talk to Heero about it in privacy; then if he could just lay, wrapped in Heero's arms, and watch a movie or listen to the rain fall, then the bad day would vanish from existence. As he allowed himself into his boyfriend's apartment, he was greeted by laughter. Placing his head against the door, he searched in the depths of his being to find enough energy and strength to endure Trowa before he would leave.

"Damnit Heero, stop fucking around and give it to me." Pushing the door completely open, Aya turned toward the living room to find Trowa sitting on his boyfriend's lap. The two men were laughing at something. Aya quickly thought about what Sakura had said and the scene in the bar when Trowa was giving that guy a lap dance.

"What the hell is this?" He demanded, his stern voice murdering the laughter and earning confused looks from both men. It was then that he realized that Trowa had pinned Heero's arm to the back of the couch.

"We were just goofing." With that said, Heero opened his hand and allowed Trowa his keys. "I'll see you later Trowa." The Japanese man called as he watched his friend leave the apartment.

"Just goofing? How exactly were you 'just goofing' Heero?"

"Damnit Aya, are we going back to this again?"

"How would you feel if you walked in and saw me and Ken like that?"

"I wouldn't care, because unlike you, I trust you."

"I guess you were 'just goofing' yesterday in the park when you were kissing him and grabbing his ass."

"I wasn't kissing him Aya."

"Someone I trust a great deal told me you were. So now they're a liar?"

"No. I never said they were lying. They could have seen it from the wrong angle and was mistaken."

"What was that all about?"

"We were just pissing off an older couple. You and I do it all the time."

"But I'm your boyfriend, not him. You shouldn't be acting that way with him."

"Why?"

"You know, I've put up with a lot of shit for you because of him. I was nice and had Omi talk to him; I sent him flowers and apologized for the way I've been acting; I even took the time out to get to know him. I don't like him, but I still took the time to try to get to know him. Through all that I've never asked you for a single thing Heero."

"What the hell do you want from me?"

"I want you to stop acting the way you do with him."

"No."

"Do I mean anything to you?"

"Yeah."

"I must not. . .because if I'm willing to do virtually anything for you, and you can't do this for me it only proves how much I mean to you. If it were switched I would quit for you."

"I wouldn't ask you to quit." Aya sighed in frustration. "I'm not changing who I am or my friendship with Trowa. You either accepted it or you don't. It seems that you don't, so we should quit right now."

"Heero. . ."

"Don't. I'm sick of always having to defend myself." With that, Heero pushed to his feet. "You want me to chose between you and Trowa? Fine. . .Trowa." As he spoke, he grabbed his jacket and left the apartment. Not wanting the relationship to end this way, the red haired man ran after his boyfriend.

"Heero, wait."

"I've said all I had to Aya. For the pass seven months I've told you time and time again that there isn't anything going on. I've told you; Trowa's told you; even Duo has told you a couple of times. I can't deal with your accusations any longer." Aya watched helplessly as Heero climbed into his car. He wanted to stop him, but he wasn't sure how. Tears stung his violet eyes as the Japanese man pulled off.

Freesia watched the hand closely as it was rubbed across the couch cushion. She crouched and eyed the flesh as it quickly swayed from one side to the other. Heero continued to move his hand in that manner, waiting for the kitten to strike, but she only watched in, what he guessed, extreme amusement. Finally giving up on the possibility of the feline attacking, he stopped and allowed his hand to rest unmovingly on the cushion.

At that moment, the front door opened and Heero looked up in time to see Trowa and a dark haired man stagger inside. He stood, ready to speak, but before he could, the front door was closed and Trowa was lightly pushed against it. The dark haired man was kissing the Latin a little roughly while his arms crushed their bodies together.

As he watched the couple kissing passionately, he assumed that the other man was Dee. With seductively slow motions, Dee pinned Trowa's wrist against the door over his head. For the first time since they entered the apartment, their kiss was broken. Both men were heavily breathing while the one with his back to Heero began grinding his erection into the other's restrained body.

"Do you still have my cuffs?" Dee asked lustfully as he looked into the green eyes. Trowa nodded and brushed their lips together quickly.

"But this time, you're wearing them." This said, Dee continued kissing along the thin neck. Feeling out of sort for the first time in the apartment, Heero would have allowed himself out to give his friend some privacy. . .but seeing how the lovers were pressed against the only exit, that wasn't possible just yet. As the older man kissed along his neck, Trowa slowly opened his eyes. "Heero."

"Heero?" Dee pulled and looked into Trowa's face with a scowl. Apparently, he didn't like the ideal of his lover calling someone else's name while he was seducing him. Noting that the Latin's attention was behind him, he turned to find the Japanese man standing in the middle of the living room.

"I can just go so."

"No. It's okay." Trowa answered quickly after realizing the look in the colbat eyes. "Dee, maybe we should do this some other time." Without waiting for a response, the younger of the two pulled from the closeness. Not given an option, Dee left the apartment, and Trowa's full attention was returned to Heero. As the unexpected guest slumped back onto the couch, Trowa sat across from him, on the coffee table. "What happened?"

"It's over." Heero whispered and kept his eyes to the carpet.

"Why?" There was no response, and in the stillness the answer was evident. "Heero, I'm sorry. I never meant to come between you two."

"I know Trowa, but it's not you. He just wouldn't trust me." The conversation was cut short by the ringing of the phone. "He's been calling here all night."

"Why don't you talk to him?. . .maybe salvage what you can." Heero just shook his head as he rubbed his temples.

"It'll be the same thing all over again." Trowa slid off the table and onto the couch next to his friend. He pulled Heero into a comforting hug as that afternoon's argument was related.

"So are you going to tell me what the deal is or am I going to have to guess?" Duo questioned and stared at his comrade who was driving. Yoji didn't answer as he kept his eyes to the road.

"Just between us, I don't think we'll be together for very much longer."

"Why not?" The American turned the radio on low and began flipping through the stations.

"He says he feels threaten by my flirting."

"He should know that you weren't going to stop that. Even I knew you weren't, and he's known you longer." Duo stated as he found a song that he liked and began bouncing to the beat.

"I think he's just using it as an excuse."

"So what do you think is really going on?"

"I think he wants Trowa back." Duo stopped in mid bounce and looked up at the taller man.

"What? After all that bullshit?"

"It's just what I feel. Not fact."

"Have you asked him."

"Look, I thought we were going out to have a good time tonight. . .not talk about my relationship problems."

"Touchy." Duo sneered and returned his attention to the road and music. He could tell that the whole situation was bothering Yoji a little too much.

"Can I stay with you tonight?" He asked suddenly, taking Duo by surprise.

"It's that bad?"

"Yes or no Duo. Because if I can't, I might as well just take you back and use my money for a motel room."

"Yeah. You can crash with me. . .but you're sleeping on the couch."

"Fine."

Trowa lightly ran his fingers through Heero's soft hair. The Japanese man had fallen asleep with his head on Trowa's chest. Aya meant more to Heero than Trowa was aware of. Their talk that night proved it once and for all. Since he was the cause of their splitting up, he figured that he would have to find a way to get them back together. . .however, the only problem as of now was Heero. Trowa might have been drunk the night he told Aya not to hurt his friend, but his words were true.

Though Heero had accepted emotions back into his life, he continued to keep pain to a minimum with a philosophy of 'once bitten, twice shy'. Due to this, Heero wasn't even considering the ideal of giving Aya a second chance. . .at least of what Trowa had seen, he wasn't. But if there was some way to get Aya to trust him, and prove that he could trust him, then Heero's resistance may waiver.

The first step would be to talk to Aya. Thinking of this, Trowa did his best to slide out from under Heero without waking him. That was easier said than done. Just as he thought he was going to get away with it, the colbat eyes opened, and the question within them was evident. Trowa remained normal by not speaking and heading straight toward the bathroom.
He didn't want Heero to know what he was planning. If the Japanese man knew, he would definitely voice his disagreement to the plan. Luckily, he really did have to use the bathroom; he just hoped that Heero would go back to sleep so that he could call Aya. However, as he stepped back into the bedroom, Heero was sitting up in bed staring at him questionably.

"What?"

"What are you up to?"

"I just had to use the bathroom." The taller man informed and took his spot back on the bed. "Why are you being paranoid?"

"Because I know you Trowa. You still think this is your fault, and you're probably scheming of some way to fix something that you didn't affect." Trowa stared at his friend, trying to hold his shock. He knew that Heero knew him well. . .but he didn't expect that. It sort of scared him. "Just leave it alone Trowa."

"All right."

"I mean it." Heero stared into the depths of the green eyes. "Promise that you won't contact him."

"Heero."

"Promise me Trowa."

"Fine, I promise."

"Nice practice, now look me in the eye and promise." Trowa hesitated a moment before lifting his eyes to Heero's. He was starting to wonder if he liked someone knowing him this well.

"Define 'contact'." Heero glared at his friend in aggravation. "All right. I promise I won't contact him."

"That also means that you're not involving, encouraging, or even mentioning to Duo, Ken, or anyone else to act as a mediator." Trowa nodded as Heero laid back down.

"Aren't you blowing this out of proportion Heero? I mean, everyone deserves a second chance."

"He's had seven months worth of second chances. . .I guess it's my own fault for putting up with it for as long as I have."

"You care about him. That's why you put up with it." Heero closed his eyes and turned his back to his friend. Trowa laid behind him, lightly resting his cheek on Heero's shoulder. "What if Aya started trusting you? What if he could prove to you that if given a second chance, he could change?"

"That's not going to happen."

"But if it did, would you give it to him?" Heero was silent. "Think about it Heero. Aya's unlike anyone else you've been with. You're never going to find someone like him again. I know. I've looked. Just because you have a problem you shouldn't throw that all away. You should try to work through it."

"The way you did with Omi?" It was Trowa's turn to be silent. He pulled from the touch and laid on his own side again. Feeling guilty, Heero rolled onto his back. "I'm sorry. I just don't want to talk about it any more for now."

"All I'm trying to say is that the two of you are good for each other. You're helping each other open up more. Of all the people I've seen you with, none of them made you as happy as Aya did. Is that what your real problem is Heero? Are you afraid to be fully happy? Do you think you don't deserve it?" Trowa closed his eyes as he relaxed against the pillows. "Because if you, of all people don't deserve happiness, then I guess it's not even a question for me, Duo, or even Quatre. . .is it?" Heero didn't respond as he thought about this.
