Vale - Teddy Bear1976 - 2007This page is dedicated to pictures of my faithful little show jumper Teddy Bear. On February 6th 2007 I had to make the heartbreaking decision to have my best friend put to sleep. Teddy Bear came into my family when he was 4 years old and over the years he's taught many children to ride, competed in shows too numerous to count and won me so many champion sashes, trophies and ribbons. Standing just 14.1 & half hands, he may have been small in stature compared to his many rivals, but he had a heart as large Australia. Having been retired for the past 5years he's spent his days meandering around the paddock simply grazing and enjoying his favorite treat - carrots. Time though has taken its toll and with arthritis setting in, Bear was no longer enjoying his life. His hind legs are failing and after having suffered through two falls in one week, one of which he could barely get up from has made me take a long, hard look at the situation. I have considered every angle, every possible treatment and come up with the same inevitable conclusion. his health is declining by the day and there is no chance of him ever improving. It is with deep sorrow and a breaking heart that I have decided to do the one last thing I can for him - let him go now, with dignity, before he does suffer. Many's the mile we have covered together, many a jump we've cleared. There have been the quiet moments shared between just the two of us before and after a large competition. Throughout all the days of competing you gave me everything you could, knowing I wouldn't ask for more than you could give and trusting me to guide you through safe and sound. Bear; there never was and never will be another horse like you. All I have now is a lock of your mane, the pictures and videos of our times together and my memories. And I will treasure those memories.May you rest in peace my faithful friend.(Page may take a couple of minutes to load - please
