that is my attempt to explore how the 1x2x3 relationship would work.
I will update semiregularly with three chapters at a time told
from Duo, Trowa and then Heero's perspectives. Some will be feelsy/angsty,
some will be porny, and some will be sappy. They have no chronology or order apart from the
fact it is set postEW. Beta'd by ELLE "The Three of Us " Flowers Flowers were not something that Heero knew anything
about and it was not as though he could ask Duo or Trowa for advice.
Duo had wistfully said the only time he'd got flowers was during a
stay with the Magunacs and then he'd gone quiet, Heero remembering
that was the time just after his own self-destruction and he'd decided
not to ask anymore. Trowa had said that Catherine liked peonies but
that wasn't much use either. So instead, he went to a florist and
asked the woman there who proceeded to make a bouquet with orchids
and other expensive plants he didn't care about. He paid and took
them, stopping at a cheesy gift store to buy a small stuffed bear
and then made his way to the hotel where the gala was taking place. Heero didn't work in the field anymore and so the whole
situation was rare he had been requested by a certain individual
and had been unable to say no. So he spent the entire night in a suit
again, listening to security messages and watching a room full of
the rich and unbearable. He didn't expect to see her alone, there were too many
people, too many different agents dealing with her and the flowers
and the bear he'd given to one of her many assistants, hoping, expecting,
to avoid her. Yet in the midst of the speeches, the dancing, the food
and the awards, Relena Darlian had walked over, shimmering in white
and gold, taking him by the arm and dragging him to a balcony. "Heero," she said once they were alone, her
tone gentle more gentle than the last time they spoke. "Relena," he replied back, unsure what else
to say. There were many times in his life that he found Duo's social
skills a necessity and a damn saving grace and this was one of them.
And he was at home probably naked with Trowa. Which was not an entirely
unpleasant thought. "I've missed you." Heero blinked at the statement, at the way her eyes
were downcast, unable to look him directly at her face. "You told me " "I know," she interrupted, "I told you
some things I regret
I didn't understand. It seemed so
" She stopped and Heero only raised an eyebrow in question
as she flustered and stammered over words. Relena had always been
so articulate yet it seemed when it came to talking about a three-way
relationship between men it caused her to blush which he supposed
he couldn't blame her. They came from entirely different worlds. To
Heero there was nothing odd or damn unusual about being with two men
and there were many advantages. Those he wouldn't share with her as
he dragged his mind out of the gutter to look at her face. "Heero
do they make you happy?" "Yeah," he answered even though it was inadequate
response to express the relationship he was in. "Then I want us to be friends again
if you
want us to be?" "I was always your friend." "When you weren't threatening to kill me?"
she retorted quickly - some of her composure returned. Heero gave her a small smirk. "After that." Relena looked ready to speak but they were interrupted
someone Heero identified as one of her own senior security
staff and she nodded to confirm something to him and began to walk
back inside. She stopped at the threshold and looked back over her
shoulder fixing him with a smile. "And Heero
the flowers were beautiful." |
