I wrote Heero and Duo, but Tai requested a drabble from me and here’s
my response. *snuggles her* So er… here’s a sporadic post. "Until Then" It was shortly after the end of the war, and Heero was
wandering rather aimlessly to a location unknown even to himself.
Every now and then, he would stop and take another turn, not wanting
to walk down the same path twice. This time, he came upon a battered
box with a kitten sleeping inside. From the scratches against the
sides, it appeared that the abandoned animal was “Amazing, isn’t it?” If the sudden voice startled the young Japanese teen, he didn’t show it. Instead, he turned to face the speaker who was walking towards him. “Amazing how such a small life was able to survive the war, and yet…” The other, Duo, paused to smile almost sadly. “And yet… is probably going to lose its life here.” “You’re regretful,” Heero stated. Duo let out a chuckle lightly touched with bitterness. “Maybe.” Confusion flickered briefly in the deep blue eyes. “Then why not care for it?” “Do I have any right to?” the other countered. Without answering directly, Heero reached down to pick up the sleeping kitten and held it out to the American teen. “Earn that right, if you must. This is not like you.” Duo blinked in surprise, but gently took the kitten from him. Giving the other one last glance, Heero turned on his heel and began walking away. “Heero,” Duo called, taking a step forward. “You know you’re welcome to visit. You know where to find me, don’t you?” “Aa,” Heero answered just loud enough for the other to hear. “I will find you.” He continued walking away, aware that the other was smiling at his back. ‘Until then, Duo.’
